Are there any other things different between these two engines besides what looks like different designed valve covers and engine designation codes.

If i recall, B18B1 is USDM and B18B JDM. They should technically be the same engine right (internal wise)?

What makes a JDM better than a USDM version concerning these two engines ?

 

jdm b18b's compression is higher by .2 (9.4 compression, usdm is 9.2). As a result, the jdm motor produces 3 more horsepower.

 

i wasnt aware there was a difference. tho, jdm engines typically have a lil high compresion, but who knows. internally, if anything is different its either the head is ground more, or the pistons yield slightly more compression

 

i didnt want to post this earlier because im not 100% sure of what its called, but the jdm motor doesnt have that black emissions box located under usdm intake manifolds.

 

jdm b18b's rev a little higher and make a little bit more hp and tq. and yes their compression is raised. i had a jdm b18b with 40k and it ripped like a b16.ran a 14.6 in my eg
