Default 6500 rev limiter RPM cutoff problem on a boosted B18C1

Just occured, my 95 GSR engine did a cutoff on RPM's at 6500 last night (in any gear when testing later on). Previously would hit 8100+/- before cutoff. i thought i had a fuel problem at first (i watched the road, not the RPM's), but then watched the needle smack 6500, and that was it. made me miss shifts like a rookie, when my extra 1600 RPM's were just gone.

anyway, any idea why this would just happen? i did put gas in last night, but i didn't run redline before i did that (93 Shell).

Hows your distributor? If its on its way out, it has the potential to misfire consecutively, which would feel like a complete loss of power similiar to fuel cut.
