turbo b17a
i just bought a b17a for my 91 integra, and i would like to build it up for a beefy turbo application
how hard would it be to get 250hp and how much would it cost
if i had 10k to put in my motor what kind of hp could i expect to get(i know its a dumb question
)

10k is more than enough to build that engine, of course I was stoned one nite dreaming so I added up how much everything i wanted for my car was. I included suspension, drivetrain, ecu, turbo, block sleeving, valve train, ect.... i mean just about anything you could put on an 01 integra gsr and I got the tally up to about 12k, so 10k should be enough to do it right on that engine... and get more than 250 whp out of it...
for 10k i would get sleeved to a 2L, forged rods/pistons, turbo kit, good 3in. exhaust, some nice electronics to control the boost, and a not-so-cheap tune so you don't ruin all of your brand new stuff! then i would pcket the rest of the money, or buy some slicks and axles and take that beast to the track!
wow this thread went to hell in a hailstorm
ok
the b17a is a good base. for 250 whp all u would need is a simple turbo setup, nothing fancy. hell, i probably have close to 220 on my d16z6 turbo.
if u want to get serious, call up wiseco and see wha tthey can do. im not too familiar with the b17 compared to the b18's so i dont know what bore they use, i might need custom pistons. id also get some eagle rods and have the block honed out. use all new bearings, gaskets, seals, new headbolts, i would chanbge the pumps too, new timing belt, good clutch and then work on the turbo kit. that setup right there should easily hold 400whp. now, ur turn to quit being a bum and start doing some research. if i had 10k to drop into a honda motor, the car wouldnt even be streetable, meaning i would be goinf or over 700whp

Well, the b17 is nearly idential to a b16 but with a longer stroke. Having that said, its going to be much more difficult to build that motor because I don't think anyone make a off-the-shelf rod that will accomodate the b17.
I would recommend just bosoting the stock block. 250whp will be easy on a stock block with a decent turbo setup. If you really want to build it, ditch the b17 block and slap its head onto a LS or GSR block.

thanks for the replies
i did not realize how much power i could make with 10k, i was thinking 350 tops
thats good news because all i would like for now is 300hp at the most
would i be able to do this with stock internals, or would i need to change a few things
i also wouldnt mind if i could build the motor to handle the occasional 8k rpm shift
im thinking maybe put 5-6k into the motor and the rest into suspension and rims
btw:90crxhf
i think raiden was joking

300whp with stock internals should be fine, but I really don't know much about the b17 bottom ends. There weren't many made so there isn't much info kicking around the net.
For 300whp ish you're looking at max new rods and pistons. I dunno, with an engine like the b17 I'd be tempted to throw a small, fast spooling turbo on there and have fun with it that way instead of pushing huge power.
