Default B16a2 Turbo??

Hey guys, I have a Civic VTI (b16a2 160bhp) and im thinking of turboing it, i'm really interested in knowing why every1 keeps slating the ss autochrome stuff on ebay? it looks resonable quality! my freind has a SS autochrome kit on his 200sx s14 and his had no probs ands is running quite a high boost.

Also im wandering wot type of power i'd get from it, i know its hard to say and it depends on what you parts have on your car already so im just after a rough guess. Heres a breif list of what i've got-

*1998 ITR gearbox with LSD ( i know this doesnt add power but helps get it down on the blacktop!)

*Iridium spark plugs

*megaleads HT leads

*Full mongoose exhaust including de-cat

*Induction kit

Ive had it dynoed like this and i got 175.4 bhp and 120.2 ft lb torque

thanks for any help, ste

I dont know personally but i have heard many times that the ss auto chrome manifolds crack very easily and also the wastegates flange is not sucured to the maifold and that also cracks or even breaks off... ... so ive been told... i dono though i wouldnt recomend it. i would build my own kit before i bought that kit. thats just me though

I have also heard bad things. Don't go cheap on turbo parts. It's not worth it...

ssautocrap is the devil!

http://www.superhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=236746

there's also a thread floating around h-t where the compressor housing of a turbo in an ssautocrap kit broke in half. it looked like the damn thing was literally glued together. :a:

Save yourself a headache, do some more reseach and build your own kit.
A friend of mine bought an ssautocrap kit about 4 months ago. I warned him about it but he said (they gurantee their stuff it's braced now it's not like the old ssautocrap kits) well his manifold cracked and now he's having to weld it back together to make is "great deal" kit work like it's suposed too.

AVOID SSAUTOCRAP AT ALL COSTS....they are a piece of shit company IMO, they make mediocre products and sell to people who do little to NO reseach. I can pull up about 100 posts pertaining to ssautcrap, rangine from about 2 years ago to present....

Back to your question..boost that b16, it's the ONLY way you'll get any real power out of that motor, it's called the "torque less wonder" for a reason....(you need tq to accelerate quicker).....

lmao! hybrid your response nails the point! nothing else should be said about ssautocrap! they just plain sux balls!

but back on topic, yeah boosting the engine will be the only way to get anything out of it! and piecing together your own kit would be best for that motor, also don't forget an ecu upgrade to maximize your investment in the turbo itself! cuz if you buy any kind of kit they'll give you a crappy linear fmu and those don't provide a good source of fuel...

I completely agree with the commments above. A guy here locally bought one. After two months the Wastegate snapped off. Then his manifold cracked. I just think its crap stuff

I do have a complete B16 turbo setup for sale. And all the internals so you can make some more power.
I was making 389whp at 18lbs. Let me know if your interested. Ill give you more details if you are.
