Default H22 Question

My friend has a prelude h22a (its a 1992 uk spec with 185bhp)
and what im wandering is why does the jap spec type r prelude have 200bhp when its also a h22a engine? does it have a better intake/exhaust or is it the fuel mapping is better? Also same question towards the accord type r (uk spec has 212bhp) and its a h22 engine again, is their any part we can take of these cars to increase his to the same or even if it just abit more?

Also hes about to order a 4 branch manifold should he get a 4-2-1 or 4-1 for maximum top end power?

thanks for any help

jdm engines typically have higher compression ratios because they have access to higher octane gas in japan. their can be other small differences in ecu's, cams, etc. that would account for the power difference.

for the header question....if he wants top end power a 4-1 would be the way to go.
