Default OBD-1 Datalogging question

Hey,
I got OBD-1 P28 chipped with Uberdata, version 1.70 or newer I believe...
I bought the Nokia USB cable, and installed it myself.
I'm using my girl's laptop with ECU control...
I installed the USB drivers and the laptop recognizes the Nokia data cable communicator.
The cable is set to COM4 38400, 8,N,1
The program says it's connected but it doesn't read anything.
I cut J12 jumper,and still no luck...
Is this b/c u have to ENABLE datalogging with Uberdata when u burn ROM??
Any help would be appreciated.

In uberdata, you need to have a map loaded in order to datalog.

Ok, that's what I thought...
However, I tried using ECUcontrol, and same prob...
Do I have to enable datalogging (seperate sensors) in Uberdata??
Basically, do I have to enable datalogging on the chip in order for it to know to datalog?

This is what pgmfi says
"Download the proper datalogging .bin from the ECUcontrol website. Modify it as necessary for your application, burn it to an EPROM and install it in your ECU."
So datalogging must be burned in?

Thanks

Err...you say that you cut J12? I never got around to doing a lot of Datalogging with Uberdata, but I know for sure with Crome you cut J12 to datalog. And for Uberdata you do not cut J12 to datalog.

IIRC all you do is open up UD and load up a .bin, you dont have to "enable" anything. You just need to have the engine running or the ignition to the ON position so that the ECU is getting power.

From what I've read of UD you wanna have one UD window open for datalogging, and you open another one with the actual .bin that you make your fuel and timing changes to. So open up Uberdata twice and use one for logging and the other for tuning.
