The correct way or a way that works?
I've heard several variations but I always just pull the ecu and back-up fuse for a few then pop it back in. Some say you have to do it when it's cold, I've found That to not be true.
You could always just pull the battery cables for a few also. Either way will clear any codes

Same here. It takes no time at all and you don't need any tools, so it is my favorite way. It does wipe out the preset stations and time, though.
Pulling the two fuses only takes two fingers and it doesn't erase the pre-sets.
the fuses are in the engine bay so no crawling on the ground under the dash

I don't know about you, but I have fat, stubby fingers, so that fuse doesn't come out easily without a pair of pliers.
