Aftermarket Fuel Pressure Regulator Questions??
I have a 93 Del Sol Si with the regular bolt-ons. I was wondering if anyone has an aftermarket Fuel Pressure Regulator on a N/A tuned SOHC D16z6 VTEC. I was planning on buying either the B&M w/ guage or the AEM. Do FPR really increase hp?? Can you feel and tell the difference in your car?? What are the downfalls to a FPR other than burning more gas?? What other aftermarket parts should I get along with the FPR?? Does it need professional tuning?? I am not planning anything else major other than headwork and cams. Is a FPR worth the money?? All replies are appreciated!!
FPR's are normally used as a "band-aid fix" for lean running engine, however, if you aren't useing an aftermarket ecu or boost, you may find that you can gain power by LOWERING your fuel pressure with a stock ECU since they typically run a little rich [very little, but it's there], but again, they really should only be used as a tool to make sure your fuel pressure stays where you want when you start upgrading your fuel system.
