Default Throwing me for a loop

I have a question on something that is throwing me for a loop. I was going to a stop sign and i was being kind of hard on the car. and then i felt the rmps jump and the car would not move but it would idle forward. i shut the car off and tried to turn it back on and it wouldn't start i could hear something spinning but i didn't hear the car turn over. Any feed back you guys could possibly give me would be apprechated.

Open the oil cap and look inside while someone tries to start your car. If your valves don't move... Your timing belt is pooched.

A valve or two might have been bent in the process. Seeing that you were coming to a stop and not at highway speeds, you might have dodged a bullet. Have someone take a further look into the engine internals. Hopefully this will not be to costly for you to get the car fixed.
