Default need a little confirmation

is a higher final drive number considered short or long?

ex. the 4.7 fd in a jdm itr tranny, is that a short or long fd?

For gear ratios the rule of thumb is a higher number = shorter gear and vice versa
So a 4.7 is shorter than a 4.6 but longer than a 4.8.

The higher the number, the shorter the gear. The shorter the gear, the higher the crusing rpms. The shorter the gear, the shorter the max speed in each gear.
