Default gsr turbo questions!!!

I am looking into dropping a turbo into my 1995 gsr in the future. I was hoping that you guys could clarify most of my questions. I am going to be getting the greddy turbo for gsrs (96-99) because I am in CA and want to keep the car street legal. This is going to be my daily driver – and I really want it to stay reliable. My goal is to reach a 13 second quarter mile time so im lookin at about 250whp…I think…

1. Does the 96-99 greddy turbo directly bolt onto 95s? (this is what I heard from shmoo)
2. Bolting the greddy turbo onto a 95, ill need to get a management system such as hondata and a chipped ecu. Is this true? (also heard this from shmoo..just verifying :P)
3. Will an aem v2 intake get in the way of the turbo?
4. what boost should I be boosting the turbo at if it is my daily driver and to meet my power goals? (I was thinking 8 psi with addition of new intercooler and other goodies)
5. will I be able to install the turbo by myself? (im a beginner at all this stuff)
6. using pump gas with the turbo will be fine, correct? (premium)
7. how often will I have to change the oil? I heard every other week!!?!
8. where can I purchase a “chipped ecu” and which one should I get?
9. what other things will I have to buy with the turbo? (gauges, etc)
10. how reliable is the car with the turbo in if boosted at no greater than 8psi?
11. what kind of mileage will I be looking at with turbo?
12. how much of the cars life will be “cut off”? (i.e. only runs flawlessly until 170k)
13.what other maintenance will have to be done?
14. where is the best place to buy it?
15. how often will I have to tune the car?
16. will it be safe with stock internals ?

1. I already told you.
2. Hondata is a tunable chipped ECU. There are several forms of solid engine management such as AEM EMS, Hondata, or Uberdata. Search for these methods and how they would work in your application.
3. The intake will not work with the turbo kit. You will have to take it off and sell it.
4. I run the Greddy preset 7.8 psi daily driven with an intercooler and BOV.
5. It is a fairly involved process. It took me about 12 hours total to get it in there with no hitches and I am fairly knowledgable about cars. Check out the DIY for the Greddy kit into an Integra on www.deepstaged.net to see if you would be willing to conquer it yourself. If you aren't comfortable at any stage, I wouldn't attempt it. Get someone else to do it.
6. You must use premium gas.
7. Change the oil on regular intervals.
8. You can purchase the Hondata chips at most online parts websites. Don't buy any chips off ebay. You need to get a programmable Hondata with boost option. You will have to get someone to chip the ECU though after you buy it. Then they will need to tune it on a dyno.
9. The Greddy kit alone doesn't include the intercooler or BOV. (2 essentials) Buy both of these and a set of gauges if you desire. I have a boost and oil pressure gauge.
10. Depends on the tuning and condition of the motor. Excellent reliability if everything is tuned correctly and the motor has good compression/leakdown numbers.
11. I get 24 miles per gallon with the 330cc injectors that Greddy included in the kit.
12. Depends on how hard you drive it, how well you maintain it, how much you boost, etc. There isn't a set limit but if you take care of it, it will last as long as an N/A motor.
13. Get some colder range spark plugs and think about a stronger clutch to handle the power better. Other than that, it is all dependent on what the engine needs to run at it's peak.
14. I bought mine off ebay with intercooler brand new for $2800 off some guy named cityspeed. He is the greatest seller I have encountered on ebay. I ordered the kit on a Sunday and it got to me that next Wednesday. Drop him an email if you are interested.
15. Any time boost changes or other modifications are made. If you leave it like it was when it was tuned, the tuning program should last you forever unless you make a modification to parts/boost.
16. I have stock internals. I recently had to replace my piston rings because of excessive oil burnoff that wasn't caught by the compression test but everything down there is stock. Stock internals are fine unless you decide to up the boost. If you do decide to up the boost, be safe rather than sorry and invest in some internals.

If you have any other questions, drop me a PM.
