Default Accord engine swap

I have a 91 accord with a f22 sohc engine with a manual transmission. I bought a JDM 94 honda accord wagon ce1 F22B sohc VTEC engine with an automatic tranny. I want to swap engines only. An engine swap book I have says this is a simple direct bolt up job. All I have to do is use the JDM engine computer. My mechanic says he thought the engine to transmission bolt pattern is different amd the swap may not work. Can anybody help us with some answers.

Confused novice.

Thanks for the reply. I wanted a H22 but the pocket book wouldn't stand it. Oh well the VTECH will give me a little more power and a little more response. Is that correct or am I dreaming?

vtec* it's not a word, its an acronym

the rule is DOHC VTEC>(SOHC VTEC = DOHC)>SOHC in my book...

go test drive a f22b1 accord.... and see the difference before you even try it

K.... the engine in the 91 is a f22b1 non vtec sohc anyway that's what I thought it was. Maybe I just don't understand. Like I said at the start I don't have much experiance in this stuff. And I need lots'a help.

I have some questions about the ecu, my mechanic doesnt think that the japanese ecu will match the u.s. wiring. can anyone help me there?

The ecu's should use the same plugs.
The only difference my be the tune of the ecu...possibly more agressive then the usdm ecu since they have higher octane fuel.

The troubles that u will have are the o2 sensors, and by my experience u will have problems with the wiring set on the distributor plugs and of course the missing plug for the vtec solenoid, but if u have the jdm wiring set your swap, on my shop, it's done, so enjoy the Vtec power........

Yeah... I got the jdm wiring set kinda. It was just lopped off at the firewall.
It will make the job a lot easier if I can get a complete wiring set is that right?
