Default possible power steering pulley

on my way home today i noticed my steering felt kind of tight. When i finialy got home i popped the hood and noticed a belt was off, under futher investigation i noticed that a pulley had worked its way off. The pulley has an arm attached to it about 2.5 to 3 inches long and i can't see where it belongs and to top it off the ????en pulley is damaged. My question is, is it possible to replace it and the belt without removing the engine and could this be done with a lift and some tools?? Please help me out. I have also taken pics of the pulley I can send via e-mail for more info or help.

Firstly, what kind of car are you referring to?

The engine won't have to be pulled to get the pulley and belt back on. It is a fairly simple procedure. Get a service manual for your car if you want to work on it.

The problem sounds like the belt wasn't tensioned properly or the pulley just failed. Did you hear any noise that would have suggested the belt came off?

sorry wasnt thinking the car is a 00' si. The pulley is completly off & there is no bolt its in the house now and it has a gash in it about 1/8 of an inch deep. I have a chilton honda manual but it dosen't seem to give enough info.

Get a new pulley, belt, and service manual. It shouldn't be that hard to replace the pulley and belt. Just make sure you tension the belt to spec, run it for 5 minutes and check the tension again.
