Default What Boost

I'm thinking of installing a turbo on my B18C5 powered civic. What kind of boost would you recomend for this lump with stock internals?

Or would you go with a supercharger????

Cheers.

Tune it well and it will scream!

8 psi would put a kick in the pants of that car for sure.

It depends on the turbo size.
8psi on a t3 (.42/.48) is a lot different then 8psi with a sc-61.
Just as with most b-series you good for about 300whp.

Excellent point. Any idea what turbo you have in mind, Owain?

Not to sure yet I was thinking of going with a Garrett, but wasnt sure whether a supercharger was the way to go?!?

For arguments sake, lets say i was to fit a T3 turbo and run it at 8psi, would the standard internals of the B18C5 cope with the added power? Wot would you recommend to change to get the most from the turbo?

get an inline pro head gasket and you will be fine at well over 8psi if you have the fuel system to handle it

I run cometic only because of my bore. I ran 13 psi on my stock bore GSR with an OEM HG. I know a lot of people that do. I've heard good things about inline pro as well.

Once again it depends on the turbo trim. There are several different sizes of t-3 turbo's and each one flows differently. The larger the turbo trim the more cfm it flows, the more cfm the more power it's going to make.
I cant tell you that you can run 15psi and be true, but thats only if your running a small t-3. Say your running a large t-3 that same statement could now be false because 15psi with a larger turbo may = 350whp, Which is more then the stock motor can handle safely. While 15psi on a small t-3 could only be 300whp.
T-3 or t3t4 or even t4 is NOT a turbo size, it's a family of turbo's with a bunch of different specs.
I'll say it one more time, your engine can safely handle about 300whp, I'd keep it about 280whp for a safety margin.

But realize that the larger the turbo, the more lag you will have. Finding the happy medium is key.
