a longer rod with a stock crank will push the piston out of the cylinder. if you get longer rods you'll need a shorter throw crank or custom pistons. sleeving and boring is better than stroking if you want to up displacement.
Longer rods have nothing to do with torque.
They can lessen the side loading on the cylinder wall by the piston, but by themselves are not a power-adding mod.
Also as mentioned, a rod that doesn't match the stroke or piston, will not physically work in the engine.
