It all depends on how much boost you are running. Around 10:1 is good for maybe 10-12 psi on pump gas. If boost is higher than that, 8.5:1 with higher strength rods, rod bolts, etc is much safer and more practical for pump gas.

The key of this argument is being able to have a streetable car running pump gas boosted safely and frankly, bumping the CR is the last thing I would do.
