Default vtec not working

ok i finnally got my clutch hook up. I got a 92 civic cx HB with a b18c1 in it. 11:5:1 compression, skunk2 intake manafold cam gear and cam shafts. aem fuel rail and pressure regulator. titanium valvle springs and retainers and a skunk2 ecu. I drove it for the first time today but was quick but i dont think the vtec kicked in how can you tell if it works? and my speedometer doesnt work and i dont know how to get the tach to work. i hooked the motor up my self and the most i did before was change a altonator or starter. so i still have a alot to learn. if anyone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated. thanks

If the speed sensor isnt working vtec will not work. What codes are you throwing? Certain codes will put the motor in safe mode=no vtec.

Take it to someone who knows what they're doing, and save yourself the troubles.

In order for the ECU to initiate the VTEC system, 5 engine conditions must be met:

Temperature: The engine must have reached normal operating temperature.
Throttle Position: The throttle must be open far enough to allow for increased airflow in VTEC.
Vehicle Speed: The car must be in motion (wheels spinning).
RPM: Engine must spin to its target value. A GS-R for example starts at 4400 RPM’s.
Oil Pressure: The engine must be operating with normal and safe levels of oil pressure determined by the VTEC pressure switch.
