Default do i need to swap the fuel pump also

im running lean (white plugs) in a civic dx with b18b motor. could it be due to fuel pump not being able to keep up at high rpm?? I have the pump from the integra so all i have to do is swap, but im just wondering if they arent the same pump.

I don't think they are the same. Its not hard to swap the pump just do it, it can't hurt.

A lot of people swap over to the Integra pump but I've never seen any concrete data that says the Civic pump flows less. My B18C1 ran fine with a 160k mile CX pump that was in my car. You might consider installing a fuel pressure gauge and checking to make sure everything is good. I believe the ones that just tap into the top of the fuel filter aren't terribly expensive.

great point. also i am burning oil but i did another compression test, this time it was cold. it read 165 155 155 160(1 2 3 4) what could be the deal with burning oil. as long as there is any type of load on the motor it burns oil. it can idle without burning oil. Please let me know all possibilities of the reasons that a built motor after 4k miles would burn oil.

You might also consider swapping the fuel line that runs from the filter to the rail with one from a teg. The civic ones allow less fuel to run through them. I had a problem with my swap initially in the fuel department and it went away when I changed out that fuel line. I'd do the pump too. It can't hurt.

Agreed, my friend had a B18C1 swap in a '92 Si and it was running like crap. They put a fuel pressure gauge on and found that line was limiting how much fuel could reach the rail and it was starving the engine for fuel. They replaced it with an Integra piece and the car ran much better.
