Default S2000 engine on 93 Civic?

Hello guys, I'm new here but old in the racing life. You can see my cars in my sig. I want to build a 93 Civic Si with a s2000 engine and tranny. Has anyone done it? Help please since these will be my new road racer.
Thanks
Jay

Good luck, you're gonna need it. Oh, and lots and lots of money.

full tube frame chassis will do it. or lots and lots of money.

for the money a bseries will probably net more power for less money, but you get props for s2k engine in a civic.

its just not practical because the k-series engines spin in the opposite direction of all previous honda engines so you would have to put it in backwards. ive seen it done but it requires a lot of custom work. not to mention an s2000 engine would probably run you upwards of 10k.

true, however, the S2000 engine is an F20C. (but yes, it does spin clockwise). you've seen a k-series engine put in backwards? do link me, because i don't believe i've ever heard of this.

used S2000 motors can be had for $8k-9k. if you are planning to mount the motor tranversly, you'll have to adapt a K-series transmission or a custom transmission to fit. the S2000 motor however is dimensionally smaller than B16A; in fact it is about the size of a SOHC D16. but getting a transmission that will work with it is the tough part. if you plan to mount it longitudinally, you'll have quite a bit of trouble making room for the transmission, driveshaft, rear differential, and halfshafts.

let me know if you do get around to doing this. it will be quite a feat putting in an FR motor into an FF chassis for street purposes.

Well.. a K20 isnt put in backwards.. Think about it guys.. inside a RSX, yes the motor spins backwards... but the tranny conver it to fwd motion.... a rsx doesnt run in reverse right?

So... the motor spins backwards.. but the innerworkings of the K20 tranny will switch over to counter clockwise

Nope, won't happen (S2000 engine in a Civic). The S2000 is RWD and a civic is not. A better option for you would probably be a B-series engine. The B18C1 out of an Integra GS-R bolts right in (with the correct mounts) and in my '92 CX is putting 164 hp to the wheel and runs 14.4 at 96 mph. Probably not blistering numbers to someone used to a Z06 or Trans Am but I've also only invested about $6500 (including the car) at that point. It also costs about $500 a year to insure (I'm 23) and gets over 30 mpg. For less than $10k you could build a good autocross or roadrace car that will be competative if that's what your looking for. I would recommend either a B18C1 (the GS-R motor) they're around $3500 or a even a B18C5 (out an Integra Type R) for around $5000. The B18C5 motor is rated 25 hp higher than the C1 (195 vs 170), higher redline and a factory LSD. The B18C1 can obviously be upgraded to match or beat the C5 with stock or aftermarket components, but isn't as potent out of the box. Once you get the motor, the sky and your wallet are the limit. 300hp and 12 second timeslips aren't the hard with a turbo on a B18C1. Seeya.
