can an LS motor rev to 8,000 rpms tho? without problems? if i put the B17A tranny in it, it would rev that high right?

Stock, no.

No, the transmission has nothing to do with that.

what needs to be done to an LS motor to get it safely to rev that high? Cams? what else?

cams, proper tuning, valve train.

VTEC head

What I meant is that it will work harder down the highway with short gears, it will be working less with an Si or GS-R tranny but it will not be as quick.

you do not need a VTEC head to run higher RPMs

thought the dohc VTEC motors are better lubricated to handle the higher RPMS.

to remedy all you have to do is toss an LS 5th gear in and call it a day.

basically beef up the valvetrain, or have a machine shop balance everything to a higher rpm.


pointless if your not making power up in the higher RPM's though.

Second Generation Integra.

Cable transaxle.

The Si is a hydro trans. That's pointless. There are better transaxles to be had that don't even require a conversion kit.

The 92-93 GS-R Cable trans is very similar to a Type-R trans. Not good for the highway without a swapped 5th or final gear, unless you aren't concerned about revs.
