600 lb/ft should be more than enough, if it doesn't work, try lubricating the impact with 4 or 5 drops of air tool oil, if the air vanes aren't lubricated, you'll really only get about 30% of the total torque you otherwise should.

Try spraying the piss out of it with an industrial lubricant like AeroKreoil too. We have to use it on the Jesus Bolts that hold our main rotor head to the support tube. They're torqued to right around 200ft/lb, and when corrosion sets in... yuck.

just wanted to make an update... i finally got the bolt off.
Thanks for all the tips.

In the process I:

broke a 1/2 to 3/8 socket reducer
snapped a 24 inch 3/8 drive entension
I stripped the bolt ! (I gave up for a while because of this)
I somehow managed to hammer on a 17mm 1/2" drive socket onto the bolt

sprayed the bolt several times with pb blaster for a couple days
jammed the flywheel with a hex bit
2 10 inch 1/2 drive extensions
18" breaker bar
used a jackstand to support the entensions
put on a 4 ft pipe from home depot
put my foot on the bar and snap! it finally broke loose

Man, so many people have this problem, its quite disturbing...
Fortunatelly I work at an Acura dealership so I borrowed the tool (its a 32 mm allen key with a hole in the middle) and got it off with a breaker. Its not hard to get off if you have the tool, but I know most people don't, so I should shut up!
