Spoon Motor with Turbo
HEy guys, if i was to get a Spoon Engine a really high reving one how much pounds of boost could it possibly hold, i know this would be dangerous but i was just wondering.
Well, the problem with running boost on a Spoon engine isn't the high-revving, but rather the high compression and agressive cam profile. Spoon specializes in agressive N/A tuning, so slapping a turbo on one of their engines isn't exactly the best thing to do. The high compression means you'll be more likely to detonate,a dn the overlap on the cams is somewhat counterproductive when boosting. If you run a Spoon ECM program, the problem is compounded by an aggressive ignition map and insufficient fueling for boost.

save the cash and build up your own low compression badboy for far less anyway.

haha. build your own motor, save money and learn some stuff at the same time.
totally man. spoon engines... awesome but not for street application also. keep in mind that that is a RACE engine and if ran the way you think you could, it would need rebuilding sometime sooner than OEM. a motor that you mod will not last as long as OEM also driven hard, yet you will invest FAR less and definately learn or go the way of the do do in your newly found hobby. this game aint cheap
Spoon builds motors to make NA power......not for holding boost. They are not strong per say, just high compression and big cams.

last time i checked, Spoon ITR motor is just a factory ITR motor that's been balanced and blueprinted (Honda factory motors.. especially ITR isn't that far off) with slightly more aggressive cams. I don't know where you're seeing "race" motors, but I'm guessing if you could afford a Spoon Race motor, you could probably afford build your own motor to better specs than Spoon's.
i think the question in hand is sort of stupid. if you don't know that high compression and boost don't go together, maybe you shouldn't be spending your cash quite yet. take a course or two in automotive basics. it'll save you a lot of money and a whole of embarrassment. (be glad you asked that before you went and boosted an 11.0+:1 balanced motor).
