Default Hi I'm new and never worked with Hondas...

I have a 3000GT that will be sold soon and I'm thinking of picking up an Integra or Prelude. From the mitsubishi camp, what we do is basically just mess with turbos... And having a v6, a 100 shot of nitrous wasn't even pushing the limits. But what do Honda owners do? I hear intakes, exhaust, and headers - maybe a 35 shot... the 1.8 can't really handle much nitrous. (or am i wrong?) As far as turbos, I know some of you guys are running them, how does that work? 3000GT owners, we just either upgrade what we got, or if we're non-turbo, we just buy the twins off an old vr-4. to my knowledge there aren't turboed hondas, so what do u do, make custom turbos? Sounds expensive. Regardless, how can I make a 141 hp Integra (assuming I don't get a gsr/ but i might put a type r motor in down the line) or a 160 hp prelude fast... preludes are pretty heavy compared to their hp. i thought they were fast... i won't have enough money to buy a 190 hp version. are hondas worth it, if u want performance?? basically is what i'm asking...

There are plenty of turbo kits out there for various Honda cars. Nitrous is popular in certain circles although I personally am not much a fan of it.

What is "worth it" to you? You can take a non-VTEC Integra, bolt up a turbo kit, add a set of higher flow injectors and a Hondata ECU to tune it, and put about 230 hp to the wheels running 9 psi of boost.

^ Yeah but is that 230hp good enough? from what i gather, hondas are about power to weight right... cuz on my car.. i'm probably making slightly less than 230hp and running a best of a 15.1 in the quarter

my car weighs slightly under 3200 lbs... integras weigh in the 2500/2600's.. so how far does that HP get you?

H22a in a first gen CRX.
If thats not fast enough for you, you can still go turbo.

yeah have fun spending MORE money than the car is really worth...with the amount of cash you put into that project you could get a B18B and turbo it for more power :P

I would just put a B series motor into a honda, turbo it, then nitrous.

When i was running a friends car with nitrous oxide we used a 55 shot... with a stock motor *Exception of the Header and CAI * and its still running fine for about 1 year of that kind of abuse.

That's 230 to the wheels. Assuming somwhere along the lines of 12-15% drivetrain loss that means about 255 to 265 hp at the crank. In a 2600 lb car that's just about 10 lbs per hp. In a 3200 lb car you would need 320 hp at the crank to produce a similar ratio.

Haha.

No.

Anyway, 3kGT/Stealth bodies are just plain fat, that's what hurts them. A 300hp Integra is way faster then a 300hp VR4/RT, from the weight alone. You will also soon realise that Honda blocks are not very strong overall, not compaired to cast iron engines like the good 'ole 4G63 and the like. All I can really say is that research is the key.

^ yes, the car is a beast, and the strong engine only makes the car peppy... a good looking car though.. i figured hondas were a hell of a lot more reliable than mitsubishis, which is why i'm opting out on a gs-t, and just want to turbo an integra or prelude.

They make mounts, and you don't have to worry about reliability issues with a turbo'd motor. 220hp in a car that weighs 1900 lbs?
Whats wrong with that? Is it better to put the H22a in your fat EG or EK?
