Default My Vigor just died...

Im drivin along, foot on the gas, then just nothing, like the ngine died... I pull over, try to start it, nothing. Wait a few min, try to start, nothing. Wait like 10 min, and it starts. I make it to a gas station, pop the hood, and it looked like the terminal was loose on the battery, so I tighten it up, and I was able to make it home. Then I run down to AutoZone to get some new sparks for it, and on the way back, it dies again, same way. Pull over, wait, try to start, and i get absolutly nothing, doesnt click over, lights dont go on, nothing. I made 2 new terminals for it, and then take it for a test ride, running fine, then BAM does it freakin again! This time i couldnt get it started, and towed it back, but I have no idea whats going on. I was told that it could be the ignitor? Its not the alternator, already tested that.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

There are several parts within the distributor. Yes, replacing the whole thing may fix the issue (assuming the stalling problem is in the ignition), but it will also cost more than troubleshooting the specific problem.

Anyway, frequent stalling like you described can be due to a problem with either fuel or spark. If it's a fuel issue it could be your fuel pressure regulator or fuel filter. Other possible non-spark-related problems are the EGR (I don't know if your car has one, but if it does that could be the culprit), and it's unlikely but it might be the idle air control valve.

If the problem is related to spark, the ignitor is a good place to check first.

MrBooty... I've heard that from a few other people as well. I've been workin on this thing for a few days now, and making little progress. I think i'm just going to take it into the Acura dealership and have them run a diagnostic on it and tell me what is wrong. I need the car up and running ASAP, so i'm just going to wave the white flag.

Well, I replaced the fuel pump, still doing the same thing. I had the sparks changed, I had an oil leak in the exhaust fixed, gasket cover replaced, SAME problems!! These are the things the place I took it to said was wrong, both failed. GRR I hate this stupid car right now! :upset:

I'm trying to take it to the Honda dealership, but it keeps dying every 1/4 mile just about!

What do you think MrFatbooty?

MrFatbooty, You live in Rockville?? I was just there last month for 1 week. Fun little town, I love the metro! It was fun going back and forth between DC. I've never experienced anything like that, out here in CA. It was a fun trip, I would like to do it again!

Hmm sorry for not replying sooner, sometimes I lose track of threads.

I still think it's your ignitor. Doesn't really seem like a fuel issue.

If you have any sort of CEL you should be able to check the code yourself using this process, although I must confess I'm not sure if the service check connector is in the same place on the Vigor.

And yeah, I'm in Rockville for the summer and go to school at the University of Wisconsin.

So thats basicly a way to diagnose the problem yourself, without taking it to the dealership??

Thanks
