Your car is going to run like crap! For one thing, you'll forever have a check engine light because the ECU will assume the automatic tranny is just failing to respond. Also, I'm not away of any DOHC VTEC ECU's that are automatics and would plug into an OBD II ECU plug so I'm guessing your planning to reuse your DX's ECU. Not only will that ECU not have the VTEC activation point or VTEC fuel maps (you'll be stuck on the small cam the whole time), it will probably hit a revlimiter at least 1000-1500 rpm before the B16A is ready. I don't believe it will damage the engine in anyway, but it will handicap it to such a point, the whole swap was probably pointless.

Run a VTEC wire to where? You could buy an RPM activated switch and make it work to tell the engine to swtich to the big cams at the right time (or a VTEC controller like a V-AFC) but you still have the other issues. For one thing, the fuel maps are all wrong for the engine anyway, and worse, you'll be using the VTEC cams without the VTEC fuel maps. The big side of a set of VTEC cams can ingest more air than any normal street cam could, by matching that with the proper fuel ratio, that's where a VTEC engine gets it's extra power. If you don't have those fuel maps, your ECU will continue to feed it the lower fuel amount than it needs. This will run the engine lean, which may net you some power gains but it can also be very dangerous as a lean engine runs hotter. Your risk detonation and maybe throwing a rod out of the block. A V-AFC could potentially compensate by raising the fuel once you hit the VTEC point, but without a dyno and wideband O2 sensor to tune it, your just basically swinging in the dark. This is ignoring the fact that an automatic non-VTEC D-series ECU will cut the engine short around 1500 rpm short of it's redline, basically slicing off the hightest part of the engine's powerband. You need the right ECU for your engine.
