I want to mod my r most likely in an all motor set up. I know that to get a excellent running car you must have an aftermarket computer. I have seen all kinds of set ups,hondata,vafc,obd-1 where can I go to learn with
the correct info on these tuning units? Like why do I need to go from my
obd II on my 01 R to a obd-I is it that there are smog peramiters that
prohibit the changes I can make with that obd-II unit? I would in the long
run like to change to the mugen head gasket up grade the cams and do all the other bolt ons that would be needed to take advantage of the new cams and higher compression. is the hondata by itself enough to tune a car like this properly? also would I tune it and then leave it be or have to mess with it here and there. thanks for reading.

To my knowledge, nobody has cracked OBD2 ECU's. That means that to successfully tune the car, you need an OBD1 ECU. The VAFC tricks the stock computer by modifying sensor input signals to the ECU. Hondata changes the air/fuel and timing maps, as well as VTEC engagement point, idle speed etc. Hondata is fully programmable; every time you mod the engine you can retune the vehicle with Hondata.
