Exospeed cams set-up, comments?
I'm thinking of going with a set of Exospeed's Stage 1 camshafts off exospeed.com, then getting some cam gears (probably Skunk2) and then getting it tuned. How does this sound? I've only heard good things about exospeed so far...
By the way, I have a 90 GS, manual, with I/H/E and clutch. And I've been told that with such mild cams as Stage 1's that I won't need any valvetrain parts. I was quoted at 8 whp from the cams after tuning.
What does everyone think of these cams, and with some cam gears? Anything else I need to get or should get? (And don't just say upgraded valvetrain because I am going with Stage 1 so I don't have to.) Thanks.

Honestly without knowing what the specs on the Exospeed cams are I can't say whether I'd go for em or not. Although from looking at their site it would appear they're selling regrinds which I'm not a huge fan of. Hell if you want regrinds I believe Crower will do em for even cheaper than $200.
Crower 403s are the pretty ubiquitous choice for B18 non-VTEC cams although they're $389 for the set and you do need to upgrade your valvesprings and retainers. They're brand new cams though, not reground stock cams.

I would upgrade valvetrain regardless of the requirements of the cam. Saying "Our stage 1 can use stock springs" means that stock springs can be used with stock revlimit. But if you want to rev past stock rev limit, you're out of luck.
I'm also not familiar with the cams, and therefore can't say if you need gears. Some cams are known as needing timing tweaking for power, and others are usually left zeroed out.
