Default Fuel Filter question

When i take off the fuel filter will any fuel spill out? or when i release the pressure will barely any come out? i think this is the reason why my accord gets horrible gas milage... its probably the stock fuel filter with 169,000 on it... haha, thanks!

There are a couple things you can do to remove the pressure:
1) remove fuel cap
2) unplug the fuel pump connector and run the car till it dies

After you do that, you should be ok and it won't squirt.

When I changed mine, I waited until it had almost an empty tank. Then I opened the gas cap to releave pressure. Then I slowly removed the bolt in the banjo for the fuel filter (i had a rag around it to make sure I would get any fuel that came out. Hardly any fuel came out.

One thing I did that I am embarrased about was I broke the bolt of in the banjo when I was tightening it back up. I had to drill it out. Don't be a dumbass like me. It only needs to be torqued to about 13 lbs ( if I remember correctly).

Dang all that work just because you're scared of some fuel leaking out from that banjo bolt? :chuckles:

I haven't had any instances where the fuel would squirt out. I just put a rag around the banjo bolt area and then crack that bolt loose and let the fuel leak all onto the rag. I'd recommend disconnecting your battery before doing that though, you don't want to cause any fires h:
