Default Enging Knocking 101

:awais: Okay.

About a week ago I took my civic up to 150mph testing top end speeds,
and soon pulled over to check oil level. Oil was fine among other things.
20 minutes later I went to check how the car handles around 130-140mph range, So i drop the gear and am gone, but as soon as I hit 120 at 7000rpm the car seems toped out not going past 120mph at ALL!

When this happens after about 3-4 seconds of trying to push it past 120, the car stalls, so I pop the clutch and Motor starts again with Knocking.
Go to the Gas station, Im low on oil and need only one quart, Dip stick flew out and lost a bit of oil. (1 quart added)

Okay ,

1st thing I did was stethescoped the Head and block, Head Sounded normal while block was making a faint cracking knocking noise.

2nd thing I did was checked Valve Clearances (fine).

Last thing im hoping for at the least is one of the Rod Bearings, Get it looked at Monday.

Know my question is does this sound accurate, Like a rod bearing?
Car still starts fine and is fully drivable (probably not for long) I don't drive it!

*Knocks off and on while idle, and pretty much always when accel. 3,500-4,000 there is pretty much no knocking, and the rest it knocks at.

Thanks~

I'm not even going to bother to lecture you about going 150 (cause I've done it). I will just assume you did it on an empty road where only you would die.
Anyway... did you see your oil pressure before/during/after your 150 run? I assume you were at very high RPM for quite a while, and this will quickly expose your car's oiling deficiencies (often previously unknown to you).
Drain the oil and remove the filter. Sorry to say, but you will likely see some shiny metal floating around. This is the rest of your failed rod/main bearing(s). Once you get that fixed, I'd try to find the cause (low oil, clogging, failing pump, broken pickup) before running it hard again.

Okay,
So your saying it's either the rod or main bearing?
It wouldn't be one of the other bearings? (not know terms)

No i did not see my oil pressure drop, and checked my oil after going 150mph, and waited 20 sum odd minutes b4 going again.

And it was a long empty deserted road, where only I would die, cept for the preschool right off it :drunk:

Dude back off about the pre school, I was kidding,

anyhow after getting the car checked out today, so far one of the bearings were bad, but not too bad, outside of bearing was scared pretty heavy, as for the inner was clean.
The mechanics are almost stumped and debating on the problem.
Knocking isn't as deep as a piston knock.
Knock is like knocking on wood.

I get the bearings changed when they come in tommarow, so Ill update you, until then I'd appreciate your feedback.

Nevermind what motor, what tranny is geared for this, and does the speedo even go up to 150?
