Need some help. We just bought a 99 Civic HX. Now the check engine light has come on. I pulled code P1457 that has to do with the EVAP canister & the related system. Has anyone gotten this error on a Civic and been able to correct it? The hoses look good and the electrical connection to the EVAP Canister looks good. I'm wondering if water could have gotten into the vent line for the Canister, it's wide open and this engine has been detailed. I'm sure they shot a lot of water into the engine compartment. Maybe water is blocking off the vent?? If anyone has a troubleshooting guide for this system, please tell me where I can get a copy.

If they got enough water into the charcoal canister, I can see how that would set off this code. But on my Accord, the EVAP canister is underneath, near the gas tank, not in the engine compartment. It has a filter on the vent, so I don't think you could get into trouble with a water hose. Civic has to be somewhat different, so you'll have to check a shop manual for your car.
