Cars newer than about a '92 model, check your owner's manual, about 7500 miles is the current recommendation. Oil technology and purification has come a long way.

In my case, the engine was built fresh, and using synthetic oil, contamination tests say I'm still changing it too early at 6k miles.
???????what is he thinking?
