simple motor question

Default simple motor question

i found a 98 civic something with a vtec e motor in it. it is hit hard in the ass,with 31,xxx miles on it. i can get it for 700.00. is it a good deal...and what is the differance between vtec and vtec e?




also .....i am planing on boosting this....

The VTEC-e engines are designed to use VTEC solely for economy. VTEC still allows a bit more power to be made, but it's primary role is to conserve gas.

If you can fix it cheap, go for it.

Building either of the VTEC-E engines is a waste of time though, it isn't really VTEC. VTEC-E uses a system of valve deactivation to save gas while true VTEC has a system of switching cam profiles to make power.

Swap on a D16Y8 head, intake manifold and computer. Build from there.

i just did a swap on my y7 motor....i used the head from a 95 ex

With a vtec-e engine I'm assuming its an HX. Sounds like a good deal if you can rebuild the back for a decent amount. Just do a head swap and boost it

Just the motor for $700? Haha, yeah, right. That would be one of the biggest wastes of money ever.

how about a b-16 from a 99 si with 80,xxx miles ,no upgrades for 1800.00?
