Engine Timing
Does the ECU set the timing? Because it seems that if I move the distributor it really doesn't make a difference. I just put a 95 engine into my 93 and I noticed a few differences, one of which is the MAP sensor. On the 95 the Map Sensor is on the throttle body, and on the 93 engine it was on the firewall. Now the Map Sensor for the 93 has the plug coming out of the firewall and the Map Sensor for the 95 has the plug for the map sensor on the wiring harness.
Now after I put the engine in I used the intake from the 93 so I could use the old Map Sensor, but after I started up the car it was totally gutless and moving the distributor didn't make the car idle or run any better or smoother.
So I was curious to that after I've done a swap like this if there is something I have todo in regards to the ECU. A friend of mine says that after I hook everything up I'm supposed to let the car run for like 30 minutes without touching anything and the ECU will correct itself, but I also hear from other people that because the engine is from a 95 that I would need the ECU.
Any help would be appreciated.

You need to disable the ECU from setting timing when you're trying to adjust it. You do this by jumping the ECU like you would when checking codes (put the paperclip in the connector).
This will stop the ECU from making adjustments to your timing and allow you to set it correctly. When you're done, remove the paperclip and you're all set.
