B18 rattle on cold startup? Rod bearings?
$100 at the dealer...but its very simple to do yourself,e specially if you have someone help you, im going to do it and its the first 'big' thing that im gonna try by myself, go in the engine section of teg tips over here at g2ic and have a look...

helms or chiltons manual shows how to do it. basically, you adjust screws on the end of the rocker arms to take out the clearance between the rocker and the cam lobe.
BTW my teg now has 135,000 and still does it. It hasnt changed. Its a combination of rod rattle on startup (rods plastiguage at .015-.020) and piston slap. when the car warms up the pistons expand and it is pretty quiet.

my old lump used to do it too, it sounde3d like a big end bearing for 2-3 seconds on start up, but i could still drive it really hard and had no trouble with it for 10k!!! and the engine is now in another car and its still going strong!!! all vtecs have noisey heads tho, all the b16's and b18s i have had have all neaded the valve clearence adjusting wen iv got them
