Default Fluctuating Idle

Aight, so my freind put his new CTR pistons, and put the engine back together. It started fine, and of course he was releived. But now, the cars idle fluctuates and even sometimes shuts off cause it drops so low. Driving wise he said it feels fine, just the damn idle now. Anyone got an idea on what the problem could be? He cleaned the IAC valve, yet nothing changed. One person did mention to adjust the valves again, saying that would cause the problem. Thanks.

the iac on my ford taurus fluctuates from time to time and sometimes cuts off ive cleaned it and it does nothing. i asked my auto teacher and he said that the iac was my problem and cleaning it wouldnt fix the problem it has to be replaced. he disconnected the plug from the iac and it portrayed the symptoms that i had been having. you need to confirm your problem before you throw parts at a problem that might not fix the problem. unhook the plug from it and see if it might be your problem.

on my '91 civ hatch i sprayed some carb cleaner into the throttle body and let it sit in there for 5 mins the started it and let it run through it stopped after about 5 miles of normal driving. thats how i fixed it, it could just be the valve positions like you said.

did you check your vacum hoses? one of mine was disconnected once and it did that.... we were looking at ALL KINDS of stuff, yet the problem was so simple.

just make sure you didnt nudge any of them off.
