D-series swap questions??

Default D-series swap questions??

i have a 92 ex fodo with a d15b7 i was wondering if there is anything i can swap in without having to swap the tranny as well. I know it'll have to be a D-series aswell or maybee a zc but if anyone could tell me what would bolt on to my tranny that would be awesome.

D16Z6.

It will suck with that transaxle though.

I agree, the D16Z6 SOHC VTEC would probably be the strongest D-series engine your going to find. A ZC might bolt on, but while they are DOHC, they're still 1.6L and they don't have VTEC. They're also pre-OBD which will cause wiring headaches. I'd consider either doing a D16Z6 swap and convert the tranny to a manual or just dump that car and find a 5-speed EX (or I guess Si if your in Canada) that you like. Save yourself a lot of work and headaches to get to the same point.

it is a 5-speed n what tranny would you recomend for it. Im lookin for somthing that'll work good for hard street driving?

for the D16Z6, stick with a 'Z6 transaxle. That means a 92-95 Si or EX unit.

Yep, the SOHC VTEC trannies all have a slightly more aggressive gearing and a little higher final drive ratio so they're more performance oriented. There still very streetable (obviously) but you might lose a few MPG compared to a non-VTEC tranny because you'll be turning a few hundred rpm more on the highway. I'd say find a smashed '92-'95 EX coupe or sedan or a '92-'95 Si hatchback and swap the motor/tranny or just find a mint one and start there.
