Default eacv problem

what would cause a check engine light for eacv (electronic air control valve)? i replaced it with a newer one and it still throws the code. reset the ecu when i swapped them too. there is no coolant leaking out of the hoses and it doesn't appear to be broken anywhere.

it has been like that since i did the swap (93 b18a) a year and a half ago. i replaced the original eacv with one from a 97 i believe. does it have to be non-obd?

I am pretty sure OBD1 and OBD2 one's are the same, I'm not so sure about OBD0 ones, it might be worth a shot...
