Gsr/Si Civic vs Grand Am?
if it is turbo and is a pontiac then the motor is out of a grand prix tgp.. with no mods it is 205 but they are easily upgraded and can be quick.. other note the grand am is lighter than grand prix. stock quarter mile for the grand prix was high 14's low 15's. with any upgrades your looking 13-14 range maybe quicker... on one forum i used to be on the was a couple of guys low in the 13 and high 12's... boost is good....
i am a former grand prix owner... i know i know.. sorry gosh..
so i would just say watch it and be carful and good luck

90 grand am? some had the quad 4 motor in them....or all i dont pay attantion. one running by me has nitrous...75 shot...i/h/e he was running 13.0 stripped out car. 75 shot is sort of like 7 pounds of boost.
these concerns are always funny to me......here you are thinking...it is a grand am for chrits sake...i should get him...my car is fast. he is saying the same thing.....it is a stock gsr.....i should get him. classic underdog vs underdog. good luck....did you ever get him?

Turbocharged ohv V6 1990 Grand Prix
The V6 could also be ordered for the LE. A turbocharged version of the V6 was standard on the Turbo Grand Prix Coupe, and was an optional engine for the STE sedan. The turbo engine cranks out 205 horsepower at 4800 rpm and 220 pound-feet of torque at 3200 rpm.
I still didnt find a Grand Am with a stock turbo or a supercharger? If its a Grand Prix GTP shift well.
Hmm a lil sleeper action goin on here? :noes:

The guy have a 90 Grand Am 5spd. As he running in 1st gear you can here a wining noise like he have a turbo but no blowoff sound. To make a long story short. Was going to work last week & I dont street race anymore but saw guy in grand am I caught up to guy & at a light he reved on motor, green light & we ran had him 1st - 3rd gear & race was over. Btw I was in my si. So its definately not a turbo or he should've destroyed me. I always run at track , but dude just talked alot of smack 3 straight weeks. Holla
The Turbo Grand Prix had a T25 turbo on the 3.1 V6 making 205hp and 215ft/lbs tq. No manual was available for the turbo motor since no manual transmission was strong enough to hold the torque at the time. Although, they did make a 300hp prototype with a manual.
They also made a Turbo Grand Am. It had the same motor that was available in the Turbo Sunbird. They made two versions of that motor, the earlier was a 1.8 SOHC I4 and the later a 2.0 SOHC I4 making 160hp.
Not a bad motor considering it was made in the 80s. 14hp less then the Dodge Turbo 2.2 Intercooled Turbo II motor. 8hp more then the 2.5 non-intercooled Turbo I motor.
A picture of the motor can be seen here http://www.cardomain.com/ride/336972/2
