you can clear when ever you want, only if you drive it of course road debris would have to be cleaned if driven, and about the flex agent earlier, mine doesn't crack or chip unless it is hit solidly, and if it does i just scuff it and repaint it. i personally dont clear coat my kit due to touch ups, you can actually touch up the paint pretty easy if it doesn't have a coat of clear on it, mine came out with a pretty good shine, but mine is white-one of the easiest colors to match

 

if i wanted to paint a lip to match my OEM sides, what color would i use? just a flat black?

 

Well it took me forever because i kept putting it off but i finally got the lip painted. Sorry and cant post any pics yet but I will in time to come. Let me just say first off that I used spray paint because I got bored and I wnt to the local auto store and found some paint that matched perfectley. Im gonna work on installing it now... it should be too hard but when its finished I will post some pics.

 

Hey guys, I am getting a body kit for the del sol that was on a car previously and painted white by a body shop and fitted and everything. My question, what should I do to paint it blue to match my car though? How much sanding should I do, if any, and what other procedures should I take to paint it to match? Thanks guys.

 

what is wetsanding?

 

You grab a bucket.
Fill it with warm water, (you can add a little soap if you want).
Grab some sand paper, (I use 400 grit when doing my bumper).
Dip the sand paper in the bucket of water, and begin to sand your car.
This is called wetsanding.

Ok, did you guys paint your sides, body kit with just spray cans?
Will that turn out pretty good for now, because I plan on getting it repainted in the future anyway.
Also, the kit is fiberglass, but it has been painted by a body shop already. Do I still need to sand it down and primer it, or just sand the wax off and shoot that bad boy blue.

I was wondering what would be the best color match for a 96 civic stock black? I need to do my side moldings, rear lip, side skirts, and i was also wondering if i should do my whole front bumper like that? thanks

 

I heard it's best if you let the sandpaper soak for at least 30 min.

 

You're right about that bro. Otherwise when you start sanding the friction turns your wet sand job into just regular old sanding.

Either way, soak or no soak, you have to be sure to keep wetting the paper but it is definitely best to let you paper soak. I usually just throw two sheets in there that way when one is spent I don't have to wait to soak another.
