You can try alcohol. Paint thinner would likely do the job as well. I wouldn't sand them...

I asked the guy at the auto parts store, he told me that theres no paint thinner for plastic, he said its better to try to sand it, so im going to try to sand it with 1000 Grit

It's very difficult if you don't. You need to heat the entire housing equally in order to get the lense off. You might be able to use a heat gun, but I'd be afraid of melting or warping something...

can this be done to the plastic headlights? for example ive got the jdm integra conversion headlights, but they are the silver types not the black background.. can it be done?
if someone has a write up specific to this thanks..

i am sure this was already answered through this forum but i have a set of jdm headlights that are very foggy and the clear has come off of them what can i do to revise these things and what are the steps i am not worried about paintin the inside because they are already the jdm gunmetal color the outside plastic just looks bad thanks everyone

check out post 214.....wetsand with high grit paper and buff em out.
