i have done this to several sets and those came out very good. next time you may try using a cooler oven temp like 275 to 300 and leaving the lights in a little longer. they heat up slower giving you a better chance at not melting things. make sure no part of the light housing is touching the inside of the oven. it spells disaster. i can't stress enough the go slow and use thin coats, i would suggest trying to get as much of that crome off or getting some sand paper thats pretty smooth and ruffing it up a little.

Worked out great!

Problems I ran into:

1) I sat there tinting the reflector spraying it for about 5 seconds because it didn't look very tinted. Once I got it into the headlight it was pretty much pitch black LOL!!

2) One of the clips holding the headlight together was broken to begin with (don't ask me how that happened). Unfortunately, this is keeping my drivers side headlight from sealing properly. Its really hard to clamp them down with something. They are such an awkward shape. I'm going to bake it in the oven and invite all my friends over and we are all going to push really hard on each corner until it seals up again. I also bought some additional silicone, I'll let you guys know how it goes.

this is a real great tutorial. i have been thinking of getting upgrades done on my civic for a long time now.probably would start with the suspension and brakes to make the handling better. when it come to getting inexpensive upgrade part the 96 civic is by far one of the best. i have had to do very less maintenance and overall it is a real money saver. thanks again for this tutorial.

Thinking about doing this on my 99 lx sedan. I have the taillights tinted with some vhs nite shades lens tint, anybody have an idea as to how the chrome surfaces would turn out using that?
