We are prepping our second race car right now, and we want to remove the tar mats in the interior. I searched the forums and saw that someone had used Bug & Tar Remover, does anyone else have any other suggestions? So far we are just scraping, and its not going to good lol. We are thinking maby mineral spirits? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

I don't know about tar mats or whatever your talking about, but wd-40 does a good job at removing grease, tar, and other hard to remove stuff from your paint job.

I did mine with a hammer, screwdriver and a chisel, took forever but worked alright. I know a few people who spread dry ice over the tar and just smack it with a hammer a few times and it will break apart and fall away. Much faster and usually comes out cleaner. I weighed all the tar I removed from a '92 CX hatch (only tar on the front floorboard under your feet) and it was a grand total of 3 lbs.

my g/f's mother said turpentine. We got tar on our feet after going to the beach one day... terrible to have on your feet.

I keep hearing dry ice, but isn't it expensive? Where can you buy it?

if you're scrapping that shit attached under the carpet, scrapping away is prolly your best bet. You could try to use Acid (The Works Toilet Bowl Cleaner) since the tar's on metal. Also try laquer thinner or purple power w/ a wire brush.
