I am in need of a step by step process on how to change an oil pan gasket on my 1997 Honda CRV. Can you help me?

I am not sure how different it is from my car but I will try anyways.

1. Move the exhaust manifold out of the way or remove completely.
2. If there is a cover near the tranny that is covering a few of the bolts, remove it.
3. To remove the cover in the last step (assuming there is a cover), remove the engine stabilizers and the bolts holding the cover on.
4. Now you should be able to access all the oil pan bolts.
5. Drain oil (important one).
6. Remove all nuts and bolts holding the oil pan on.
7. Remove oil pan.
8. Clean oil pan and remove old gasket.
9. Put new gasket on and put oil pan back on (make sure the gasket is seated right).
10. Tighten the nuts and bolts holding the pan on. (DON'T OVERTIGHTEN). They will break if you do. Torque for a B18 is 9 ft-lbs. Also, torque in criss-cross pattern to ensure proper gasket seal.
11. Put everything back on that was removed to access the bolts.

That should be it. It isn't that hard, just tedious. If you have any problems, I suggest you pick up a Helms or service manual for your specific make/model.
