Default 94 Cylinder head

Help, I need some advice. My 94 Accord needs a new head gasket. I have an internal coolant leak. At the auto shop they will charge me $1092 +tax just to in stall the head gasket and if the cylinder head needs to be replace an addition cost will be $1998. What should I do? I don't have the money to do all that.

If it's just the gasket then I wanna know that they smoking at that auto shop cause I want some. The gasket costs like $60 MAX and if you know how to unscrew stuff you can install it yourself. Cylinder head really shouldn't cost that much either. Although, I just realized you're talking about an accord and I know about Civics. Still shouldn't cost that much.

Well, I think I will give it a try and fix it myself. But, the hard part I think is removing the timing belt. Cause I read something that says that I have to make shure that I have the engine on TDC number 1 cylinder and then I can start to remove the timing belt. I don't understand the TDC (Top Dead Center) procedure part. If someone can explain to me in plain English then I think I can do the rest by myself.

ummm......Timing belt doesnt need to be removed I believe.

4 screws and the head comes off and there you'll see the gasket.

That is the valve cover. Removing the head requires the removal of intake manifold, exhaust manifold, timing belt, a lot of radiator hoses, and maybe some more things. I have never done it, so I wouldn't know.

hmm.... the most efficient thing you can do it to pull out the engine and work on it while its out. theres a lot of shiits you need to take out. no jokes!!!!
