Default Mounting tires?

k, im a Junior in HS, n my school has all the tools n crap, i got new wheels and tires, low profile (40) tires. today i've had hell of a lot of problem moutning the tire on the rim, scraped the rim a little bit too.. not good. and my teacher is a dick, he wont help us, and when he does it, it seems so easy. does anyone have any suggestions? put a lot of weight on the side already in?

Yeah, I wish someone had told/showed me the "trick". The directions that came with my tire mounter were not very clear.

If you look at the outer edge of the rim, there is a "step" on which the tire bead seals. Moving towards the middle of the rim, there is a second "step". For the side of the tire that's already mounted, you need to push down the tire edge down into that second "step". That's what gives you enough slack to get the other side of the tire over the edge of the rim.

Once I figured it out, it took about 5 minutes total to mount the tire.

Good luck.

you have to make sure the drop center (second step) is on the top when you put the rim on the machine. if you are having a hard time getting the tire into the drop center, try using the bead bar to pry it into the drop center.

you should practice on some tires that arent low profile first.

Wow! Figures there's a name for that: drop center. I learn something new every day.
