How To Tighten Up E-Brake?
For the fourth gen.
f you remove your consoe by te brake lever you will notice a pair of cables beneath it with adjusting nuts on them....tighten these a little at a time (1 or 2 turns) then test the tension and test spin the car to make sure it isn't dragging the brakes.
defvayne....if you do not know then do not post BS comments like that because that can do more harm than good and its just plain messed up to give bad advice like that.

lol, maybe i wont go wit his idea and follow niteshades. i think my car is fine becuz i heard you wouldnt have to adjust if ur e-brake clix between 4-8 and mines at 6. so thx for the info.
The reverse business is for lots of older cars with drum brakes. I don't know if Honda drum brakes self-adjust like that, but the EX has rear disks. They self-adjust by pulling the handbrake many times, you don't have to be moving.
Like I said, the adjuster nut in the console is for stretched cables. If the auto-adjust mechanism is screwed up, it won't help to adjust the cables.

Or the SE..........only drum brakes in back (makes no sense to me either, I cant understand why they would bother making two sets of brakes for the same car). Good thing you get a sunroof though, that makes all the difference
(EDIT: my bad, Edmunds says SE wasnt avail. in '98).
And the "use reverse to self-adjust" thing used to work on drum brakes. It still probably does, except most cars dont have drums in back anymore. Accord rear drums are probably the same as everyone elses, they have the little spur thing that pushes the pads against the drum. Thats the self-adjuster, and it adjusts itself while in reverse.

My 95 EX has rear drums. Only the models with ABS have rear disks, I believe. I've always heard to pull the parking brake in reverse to adjust the parking brake as well. But every other way suggested should work.
