Default Car wont start

I just recently bought a 90 Civic Si. The car was a theft recovery and the ignition was tore up pretty good. The guy that i bought it from replaced the ignition but couldnt get it to start so he decided to get ride of it before putting to much money in to it. We my dad and i bought it for a Auto X car and now need to get it to run. The car had a Alarm on it and supossibly all of the wires where removed so that it is no longer hooked up. When we try to start the car it cranks about 4-6 times and then back fires. We also tried to pch start it and all it did was back fire once and then nothing.

Does anyone have any info on what may be wrong or things to try. Also what are some of the things that i need to check to make sure that all of the alarm is disconnected.

thanks j

Have you checked your fuses, especifically the EFI fuse. That or perhaps your timing or something is off. Make sure all your grounds are good.
