white smoke???
i just completed the MPFI swap on a 91 CRX DX w/ automatic transmission. At first, i was leaking coolant from the gasket connecting the block to the intake manifold. I fixed that, but only after leaking a LOT of coolant out the bottom of the engine bay and maybe into the engine?
There is also a lot of white smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe and was just wondering if anyone knew where it was from, maybe from the coolant burning?
Here are the parts i used:
- 91 si intake manifold, throttle body, fuel rail/injectors, etc.
- 90 si distributor
- 88-89 integra LS automatic transmission ECU
- 91 si injector resistor box
Any help is appreciated, thanks.

more than likely if its white smoke uve got some coolant in ur cylinders, run the car for a while hopefully itll go away if not recheck the seals of everything and if that doesnt fix it then do a compression check and see if the headgasket is blown and leaking coolant over into the cylinder, good luck and hopefully there is just a little water where it isnt supposed to be and itll burn out
Find a buddy with a coolant system pressure tester. Pressurize the coolant system to 13 psi and make sure it holds there. if coolant is leaking into the combustion chamers through the head gasket, you will be able to tell. Make sure you pull the spark plugs and crank the engine with them out befor you try and start it as to not hydro-lock the engine. Good Luck!
if it's not your piston ring you might want to check your valve seal also..I had lot's of white smoke and I just change my head gasket but I never bother to change my valve seal. So I change my valve seal and wala...it's gone no more white smoke.
