Fuel Lever / Door...
Guys,
The lever that is down on the floor of my hatchback (90) that operates the door to my fuel tank is really starting to sieze up, the last time I got gas I could barely move it.
I removed the little plastic casing around it but it doesn't really give you much access to it, I've tried spraying some good ol' WD-40 in there and it seems to help, but minimally.
What's my next step, how do I fix this annoying little problem...I need gas to go...if I can't get at the tank...oh oh.
Suggestions?
Jason

Maybe your cable is stretched out. You could get a new one which would probably fix the problem. That cable is routed around your 1/4 panel and to the gas door. You would have to take out your interior to get at it.
Oh you mean the actual lever. Hmmmm. How odd. Its plastic isn't it? I don't see how it could be rusty. I'll tell you what I'll take a peek inside the back of my car tomorrow (since I have no interior) and see where that cable goes. Perhaps what its attached to can seize up.

See what you can see for me...it never ends...sigh...
Thanks again,
Jason
Yeah, the cable itself is metal and in a metal sheath I believe. Either replace it or work it back and forth a bunch of times and try to get it to free up.

The new cable is $42 plus tax CDN.

PS> FourthGenHatch : Did you have a look for me?
This is all I really found, no revelations were made...
The cable goes along the 1/4 panel and around to where the gas door thing is...

And that black cylinder goes into the plunger...

Your best bet would be to just replace the whole assembly I guess.
