Default Hf?

Ok... so me and a friend of mine went down to the local track and we decided to see who was faster... of course... I thought he was... he has a '92 Integra GS... automatic.. -.- and I have an '88 CRX HF.. manual... of course...
This makes me wonder.... I beat him really bad.... REALLY bad... and though there may be some hp degredation in his... wouldn't mine POSSIBLY be just as bad... so that can't be the problem... (my car wasn't babied before I got it...)
I wonder... my car is really fast for an HF... I've beaten an SI in a race before, and my car is completely stock... So I'm wondering where can I look to tell the difference... or might anyone be able to tell by looking at a picture? Maybe the HF is that fast... but this is my second HF... and the first was ass slow..... i dunno...

I'd also like to think that I'm a good driver... but I think I factored that in... not like being a bad driver would make me slow... so... yea..

Either his car has some serious issues (like running on three cylinders) or your car has an engine swap. There is no way that an HF would be faster then a '92 GS auto, I know this because I have owned a perfect condition '92 GS automatic.

Let's play with some numbers:

88 CRX HF (manual)
62hp 90ft-lbs
1967lbs
2.95 final drive

92 Integra GS (auto)
140hp, 126ft-lbs
2701lbs
4.428 final drive

You should check your engine code to make sure the previous owner didn't swap it.

Yea... thought so... his Integra is in very good running condition... so that's not it... I just don't know where to look for the engine code, I looked all over.. (at night.... so maybe I'll have better luck in the day...) Heh, the guy who owned it before WAS a mechanic... (I'm not lying when I say he forgot he was a mechanic.... he thought the alternator had died.... and the car needed a new battery...) So maybe there was a swap... I dunno...

Thanks to westcoaststyle:

Right where the red arrow is pointing, it's in the same place on D-series engines.

D15B2 was mine.. I think... I forgot but I think that was it, and his is a B18A1... So I have 90 or so horsepower and he has like 130... (degredation factored in) Maybe my car has some parts replaced in the engine... it looks pretty clean for such an old car, and knowing who was the owner before me... it would not be clean unless it were pretty new.

The D15B2 in the HF had 62fhp, which would translate out to about 53 wheel horsepower... maybe less. The D15B2 of the DX had 92fhp, or about 75 whp. Check to see if the valve cover says 16 valve, if it does, you got lucky. If it has a full D16A6 head and manifold, that would put you around 102fhp, 85whp. If the head has been swapped, who knows what transaxle you have.

His Integra is stock 140hp, so guess 110whp.

All numbers are my own personnal educated guesses, as I have obviously not tested all these engines, hybrids, and transaxle combos.

Stock for stock, the Integra would walk away from you, but who knows what you have under the hood... you better find out soon.
